Meet Our Hockey Coaches

Brandon Wong

A professional hockey player with 25+ years of hockey knowledge and experience, including 9 years professionally as a player. Brandon continues to takes his love for the sport and hopes to share and positively influence others by providing a unique athlete-centered style of coaching.

Clint Colebourn

Clint is the current head coach of the U13 T1 Victoria Kings. He was previously part of West Van Academy and an assistant coach at North Shore Winter Club. Clint grew up in Vancouver and played minor hockey at North Shore Winter Club, Burnaby Winter Club, and Major Midget for the Vancouver NW Giants where he was selected by the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL draft. Clint brings passion and energy to our team and the BW Hockey community.

Garry Nunn

Garry Nunn is a Victoria native who grew up playing his minor hockey for JDF Orcas and Victoria Racquet club. At the age of 14, he went straight to Junior B hockey where he won the championship with the Victoria Cougars. Nunn spent his junior time from 2005 to 2010 in the BCHL with the Victoria Salsa/Grizzlies, and in the WHL, where he played for the Vancouver Giants and the Edmonton Oil Kings. In the 2010/11 season he moved to the Alaska Aces (ECHL) where he and his team won the Kelly Cup Championship. Between 2015 and 2017 he played for the Providence Bruins and San Antonio Rampage, both in the AHL. Nunn then decided to make the jump to Europe for the 2017/18 season where he played for Frisk Asker in Norway, and scored 67 points winning him his first scoring title. In the summer of 2019, Nunn signed for the first time in Switzerland with EHC Olten in the Swiss League. During the 2021/2022 season in Olten, Nunn surpassed his personal scoring record with 90 points in 61 games. After four successful seasons as one of the leagues top scorers he decided to sign a 2 year deal with league rivals EHC Visp where he is continuing to play right now.

Daeman Fraser

Daeman resides in Victoria where he currently works as the Head Scout/Assistant coach for the Nanaimo Buccaneers of the VIJHL. Daeman played for the JDF Minor Hockey Association growing up before playing Junior hockey for the 100 Mile House Wranglers (KIJHL), and Nanaimo Buccaneers. Daeman is excited and passionate in assisting and mentoring younger players to reaching their dreams and goals in the sport.

Ryan Hays

Ryan Hays is the current head coach of the U11 A Victoria Admirals. Ryan has been coaching and skills coaching in Greater Victoria for over 8 years: with Victoria Admirals (Coaching U18, U15, U13, and U11), BW Hockey, Victoria Hockey School, and independently. As well as coaching Ryan is an Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.

Charlotte Swanton

Charlotte Swanton has been passionate about hockey since she first stepped on the ice at five years old. Over the years, she has played for teams including Sooke Boys, Reign Girls, Shawnigan Lake School, and now competes at the USPORTS level with Trinity Western University in the Canada West division.

Charlotte has grown as a player, and also discovered a deep love for coaching and mentorship. She began coaching younger athletes at 16, and it quickly became one of the most rewarding parts of her journey. Sharing the lessons she has learned—both the challenges and the victories—has given her a strong sense of purpose. Charlotte is committed to helping the next generation of players develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game.

Justin Brand

Justin grew up playing hockey in Ontario with most recently playing for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in USports before moving into skills and coaching. Prior, he played with the Whitby Fury Jr A of the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he was selected as an All-Star. Justin was team captain at University of Toronto where he was a 3x USports Academic All Canadian. Justin also captained Whitby Fury in 2016-2017. He is currently in his 2nd year as Head Coach for the Victoria Admirals U13 T1 team.

Marcus Beesley

Marcus Beesley was a full time goalie coach based in Calgary, AB from 2013-2025, where he was Senior Head Instructor for World Pro Goaltending. He was the goalie coach for the U18AAA Airdrie CFR Bisons from 2014-2025. In 2014-2015 the Bisons advanced to the Telus Cup Tournament, where they finished 4th in Canada, and Marcus has helped many Bisons goalies advance to Junior, College, and Pro careers over the past decade. Marcus was also the goalie coach for the AJHL’s Drumheller Dragons for the past 4 seasons, during which many of his goalies posted excellent numbers and earned league-wide recognition before moving on to College careers. He has taught over 19,000 private goalie sessions along with 100s of camps and clinics, and worked with many goalies at the Junior A, WHL, College and Pro levels. He has trained elite goalies including WHL Goaltender of the Year and Canadian World Junior Ian Scott (WHL / AHL), Kurtis Chapman (WHL / USports), and Nolan Kent (AJHL / NCAA). With a resume that also includes 3 seasons as the goalie coach for the Olds Grizzlys (AJHL), 2 seasons scouting for WHL teams, and various lead roles with Hockey Alberta, Marcus brings a good measure of experience to the ice along with his strong shooting skills, enthusiastic approach, patience, and positive energy. Prior to his coaching career, Marcus played minor hockey in Prince George, BC, followed by 3 years in the KIJHL (Nelson, Kamloops) and BCHL (Prince George). He now resides in Nanaimo, BC and is excited to continue coaching on Vancouver Island.
